Cancer Surgery
Periocular skin cancer diagnosis, excision and defect reconstruction is a particular interest.
He has regular access to MOHs micrographic surgery, which is only available in a few centres around the country.
MOHs is performed by specially qualified Dermatologists who remove the diseased tissue under microscopic control. This is reserved for certain types of tumours such as those around the eye, recurrent and infiltrative type tumours.
Studies have shown five-year cure rates exceeding 99 percent for new cancers, and 95 percent for recurrent cancers.
The resulting periocular defect following MOHs is then closed by Mr Devereux using his specialist oculoplastic reconstructive training.
Patient Information Downloads
For your interest and information, here is a list of the commonest conditions that I see and treat in my Private Practice, and the operations that I most commonly perform.
As a general rule, many general eye problems can be very effectively treated and cured as an outpatient WITHOUT the need for surgery, and I will make every effort to achieve this.
If an operation IS required, however, the information leaflets I have linked to the procedures below should give you all the information you require about what to expect before and after the surgery.
I will be happy, however, to explain anything about your treatment at any stage at your request if you are at all unsure.
